“Outstanding staff” is one of the compliments we most often hear from our patients. Since many patients have expressed curiosity about each staff member’s role we thought we’d briefly explain, and tell you something about each person’s background. Plus, since most staff members are always wearing masks, goggles, and/or magnifying loupes, we thought a picture of each as they appear masked contrasted with what they look like out of the office might be fun.
The assistants provide support to the doctors, including assisting them chair side during any procedures, insuring infection control, scanning digital X-rays, and preparing the operatory for each patient. Experience counts, and our assistants average over six years as an dental assistant:
Hygienists take a special two year course and then have to pass state boards to be certified as dental hygienists. Like the doctors, they are actual providers of dental care. They are responsible for the oral health of your gums, and actively treat gingivitis and periodontal disease until your oral health is okay. They are also responsible for doing preventive work to maintain your oral health - what you’ve heard called “prophies” or “cleanings”. Our four hygienists average over twelve years of hygiene experience.
Our front office staff members are the ones scheduling your appointment and reminding you two days before, getting your information into your patient record, arranging financing, filing your insurance, and collecting payments. Their job is going the extra mile to help you find an affordable way to have the smile you want!
